The Real Stars of Lil Barn

AKA Loretta. She's an Arabian horse with a past in showing, and is the one who started Lil Barn!

Loretta is the matriarch of Lil Barn and the original horse that started it all. With a past in showing and parades, she brings elegance, confidence, and a no-nonsense attitude to every ride. These days, Loretta focuses on giving beginners their first wins and building trust from the ground up. She’s patient, dependable, and occasionally a little sassy — especially when snacks are involved. She’s known for her dramatic sighs, stealthy escape attempts (don’t worry, she never goes far), and her deep loyalty to the people she trusts. She’s a barn legend.

Our Capricorn queen is as wise and grounded as horses come. She’s structured, seasoned, and absolutely in charge (and she knows it).

AKA Waylon. He's a Thoroughbred and Warmblood horse with a heart of gold and a goofy personality.

Waylon is a tall drink of water with a personality to match. He came to Lil Barn from a close friend of Isabel’s and quickly became a barn favorite for riders who love a little flair. He’s goofy, sensitive, and always ready for a canter — whether you asked for it or not. Waylon is especially fond of jumping and shines when his rider brings a sense of humor and clear direction. He’s the kind of horse who wants to be your friend as much as your ride, and he’ll absolutely let you know how he feels about everything. With Waylon, it’s never boring — and that’s exactly the fun of it.

Like any good Libra, Waylon is charming, people-oriented, and always trying to keep the vibes light. He’s social, expressive, and just dramatic enough to make you smile.

AKA Eddie. He's an off the track Thoroughbred horse and a total charmer. 

Eddie is a total heartthrob with a background in dressage and jumping, and a personality that turns everyone into a horse person. He’s sweet, social, and deeply connected to the people around him. He’ll lick your hands forever if you let him, and he’s known for bowing on command like the classy gentleman he is. Eddie is a dream to ride — smooth, steady, and always tuned in — but he shines most with a rider who brings calm presence and wants to build a real partnership. He’s the kind of horse you’ll find yourself talking to without realizing it. And he listens, too.

Pisces are intuitive, sensitive, and a little dreamy — and Eddie is all of that and more. He reads your energy instantly and always meets you with softness.

AKA Emmy. She's a Spanish Arabian- one of only 2% left!

Named after the country legend Emmylou Harris, this mare has serious star energy. Emmylou was rescued from a backyard breeder and came to Lil Barn full of heart, talent, and opinions. She’s the kind of horse who makes you level up — she’s smart, sensitive, and loves a rider who shows up with clarity and calm. She’ll test your buttons one minute and quietly melt into a grooming session the next. Emmy loves to jump, hates the cross-ties when she’s not in the mood, and has a signature braying whinny that makes everyone at the barn smile. She’s a bit of a diva, but once you’re in her circle, she’s yours for life.

Like any fire sign, Emmy is a bold Aries. She’s independent, and always thinking a few steps ahead. She’s got a firecracker personality but a loyal heart when you’ve earned it.

AKA Minnie. She's a mystery-mix pony, and is truly one-of-a kind.

Minnie might be the smallest horse in the barn, but she’s got the biggest attitude. She was raised in a pasture with cows (and briefly thought she was one), came to Lil Barn as a $500 Facebook mystery, and quickly became a fan favorite. Minnie is a rockstar with little kids — steady, patient, and fun — and a hilarious test for older riders who think they’ve seen it all. She loves sparkly braids, stands perfectly for grooming, and has a deeply strategic approach to snack acquisition. She’s one of one, and she knows it.

Sagittarians are bold, independent, and always a little cheeky — which describes Minnie perfectly. She’s here for the adventure (and the snacks).

AKA George. He's an Arabian/Quarter horse who loves treats.

George is the ultimate been-there-done-that guy. With years of experience and a heart of gold, he’s one of our safest, most dependable rides — especially for new or nervous riders. George is kind, patient, and perfectly content to plod along the trail, soak up attention, or just hang out while being groomed. He adores treats, appreciates a low-key day, and brings a quiet confidence that helps his riders feel grounded. 

As a true Taurus, George is steady, grounded, food-motivated, and fully committed to comfort. He knows who he is — and he’s not in a rush to change.

AKA Willie. He’s a 24-year-old Arabian with floppy ears, a perfect canter, and a steady heart.

Willie came to Lil Barn in 2022 after being lightly ridden and mostly hanging out in a backyard. From the first ride, we knew he was a gem — calm, canter-ready, and eager to jump anything in front of him (even if it’s just a pole on buckets). He’s helped so many riders learn to canter for the first time, always steady, gentle, and just a little grumpy in the most endearing way. He’s known for stretching like a yoga master in the cross ties and twitching those big expressive ears at every sound. Now semi-retired in Agua Dulce, Willie enjoys a slower pace with trail rides and the occasional lesson — exactly the kind of life he deserves. He’ll always be a barn favorite.

Our Gemini guy is curious, sensitive, and expressive — and his ears definitely have their own opinions.

AKA Dolly. She’s a 13-year-old Arabian horse with endless energy and a love for kisses.

Dolly came to us in 2024 from Whittier and immediately showed off her love for trail riding and jumping. She’s athletic, brave, and always ready to go — but also incredibly sweet and loyal. She’ll follow you like a puppy, just happy to hang out and stand by your side. She’s the kind of horse who always tries her best and seems to never run out of steam. Right now, she’s on lease in San Diego thriving in a lesson program with dressage and jumping, but we can’t wait to welcome her back next year. Dolly is love and go-power in one beautiful package.
